Same-sex marriage is already illegal in this state. If this amendment fails to pass, that doesn’t change. If it does pass though, it will have serious negative, unintended and harmful consequences on North Carolina’s children and families. If you live in North Carolina, make sure you get out to vote. The official election day is May 8th but early voting is open now. This is an extremely important matter that affects everyone in this state, regardless of sexual orientation.

Being from North Carolina, this is a matter that is very near and dear to my heart. Not only does this discriminate against gay and lesbian couples but also against unwed heterosexual couples.
